Thankful
I wanted to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving, and Thanksgivukkah, for those of you, who like me, are celebrating Chanukah and Thanksgiving together this year.I have so much to be thankful for--my loving daughters, my family and friends, my writing, the work I do at the psychiatric hospital--all of which feed my heart and soul. And, while I'm getting all gushy here, I want to extend my thanks to all of you who read Wendy Jane's Soul Shake. Without you, I'd be staring at a blank dashboard--just talking to myself. With you, I feel connected with friends, old and new, who care about race relations, and who can relate to my attempts to understand my preoccupation with it, and my desire to look more closely at the places where we all come together, where we butt heads, sometimes gliding smoothly as we go, sometimes stumbling.I am thankful for your support, and for your challenging me on things you don't agree with, or you find offensive. As my friend, Debby Irving, racial justice educator and author recently said to me, "we learn and we grow.." I look forward to continued learning and new experiences along this journey with all of you. Happy Thanksgiving.
