‘Fess Up: What’s Your Awkward Black Gal/White Gal or White Guy/Black Guy Moment?

22 Jun

All right,  I introduced you to the hilarious and genius web episodes of Issa Rae’s, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, which follows the title character and her friends as she navigates through life, love and awkward situations.

I’ve even introduced you to my own Awkward White Girl Moments in two posts here.

Now it’s your turn….

Since Wendy Jane’s Soul Shake deals with race relations, share with us your awkward fill-in-the-blank moment.  Whether you’re a person of color, or white, guy or gal, tell us how you’ve stuck your foot in your mouth, generalized or stereotyped without meaning to.  No shame, no guilt!  Please comment below.  Thank you!

I said it to the kid, last night…. Don’t go in the woods with white people. It’s from me seeing young black men hung from trees.

Thank you, Kym for being the first brave person to step up to the plate to “fess up.” Thanks for being so honest here.
